MEL

The warmth of sunlight on your skin, the golden grains swaying across the countryside, the flock of birds soaring overhead as they make their way south for the winter... Mel, the spirit of life, encompasses all of these.

So much of the study of magic is about cause and effect, desire and result. The palaver housed within Mel's domain do bring about great change, but most of it invisible. Accoy will soothe physical pain, from small scrapes to broken bones, until such a time as proper medical care can be brought to the patient. In the same vein, Brio stokes the fires of the soul, bringing energy to those who find their will spent, or those who suffer from the fatigue of painful events.

More than touching the body, Mel reaches out and forms connections with the world around the orator. With a mastery of Benthos, an orator sees and breathes as the deepest aquatic creatures do, connected not only by the senses but by instinct as well to the life below the depths. Even simpler tasks, such as purifying food and drink or making the otherwise inedible edible, can be accomplished by Absterge and Rassasy, respectively.

And when resources dwindle, and famine strikes? The balance of nature tips and turns at the orator's command of Cavicorn, stretching otherwise impossible rations to feed thousands. Tellurian history has seen accounts of such things, deeming them the work of enchanted horns of plenty or ancient gods.

In this way, Mel more than soothes and sweetens — it accomplishes miracles. A corrupted orator in full command of the words of Mel is a dangerous force indeed, and in some cases even moreso than experienced warriors or adept politicians.
