VIS
Boldly, loudly, exuberantly announcing its way into every room — Vis, the power of force, cannot be stopped by any means mortal. As often as Ord seduces the young mage to fire and frost, so too does Vis entice young warriors to seek out extra strength behind their blades and fists.
It's no surprise to see a word like abscind, to sever, engraved into the hilt of a sword, or for lumberjacks to carve runes for dehisce into their axe, with its ability to split things apart — but Vis covers other elements as well.
A sound sleeper or victim of the effects of magical unconsciousness can be roused with abraid, and many a sailor pulled from the sea has had their life saved when a quick tussicate forced the water from their lungs. Even the long coveted power of flight is accessible to the orator with a mastery of alate.
Be warned: as you seek power not to underestimate yourself — even tussicate, for example, can crack the ribs as easily as it can resuscitate the drowned. Take care, young orator, that you may end up doing more harm than good, if you do not restrain yourself in your pursuits.
